Q- I want windows that need no maintenance, but I’d like something
other than just white uPVC so as to give my house a more personal style…

- The “Heads & Tails” window offers a choice of 6 non-fading exterior colours, with the additional bonus of retaining the warm appearance of real wood on the inside.
Then there are the coloured uPVC solutions. Produced with a “plaxage” technique (guaranteeing excellent colour stability), Grégoire offers you solutions in colours or wood-effect.
Lastly, with the Grégoire aluminium range, your windows can be produced to order in any one of the 240 colours from the European “RAL” range.

Q-I have inherited a nice large plot on the outskirts of my village, but it is
alongside a main road that is very busy, even at night.
Have you got any windows that are really very sound-proof ?

- Whatever type of window you are looking at (wood, uPVC, etc.), in each of the Grégoire ranges you will find high-performance acoustic solutions (official classification AC2) which will enable you to achieve an overall attenuation (walls + windows) of 35 dB(A) Traffic,
rather than 30 dB with “standard” double glazing. This difference of just 5 decibels means the noise level will be effectively halved.
Lastly, it’s worth pointing out that the excellent air-tightness of our windows and doors is also a significant factor in external noise reduction.

Q - One of my clients has mentioned your “Heads & Tails” windows.
Is this one of those “hybrid” wood and aluminium windows,
  and how are they installed?

- The “Heads & Tails” window is not a hybrid, but a genuine wooden window with the exterior protected by a covering glass pane.
Installing it is exactly the same as a standard wooden window.
Furthermore, “Heads & Tails” has the advantage of the Grégoire one-piece frame, making the window even more rigid and eliminating any risk of leaks around wooden “subframes”.

Q- Have you any solutions against the risk of forced entry?

- In each of our ranges you will find high-security solutions, fitted with sealed units in which one of the panes is made of two pieces of glass sandwiched with a special invisible film, with high impact resistance.
These special glazing units we use have been tested to withstand very severe impacts and are officially rated.

Q - Why are your wooden windows and doors designed with
a laminated technique, instead of in solid wood, like most others?

- For several reasons. The lamination technique makes the wood stiffer, which is why it is used for very large span roof timbers It also makes the wood much more robust (increased strength of the order of 30%) and last but not least, it contributes to an ecologically-sound management of wood reserves.
The central core of Grégoire products is made of noble French pine, grown in Dordogne.
This solution reduces considerably the consumption of tropical hardwoods, the majority of which are felled without being replanted, and so are in danger of disappearing.

Q - What solutions have you to offer for good heat insulation?

- First of all, Grégoire windows all have excellent air-tightness achieved through various seal techniques (depending on the model of window), the subject of regular laboratory tests. For the sealed units, Grégoire now offers you a choice between several levels of insulation, in particular with the models referred to as “low transmission”. These sealed units, with a much higher performance than standard models, henceforth enable Grégoire windows to meet the new thermal regulations.
